Limestone

Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of mineral calcite (calcium carbonate). The calcite usually originates from ancient marine organisms. Pure limestone has the appearance of bleached linen. Other limestones display a range of colours (especially on exposed surfaces), deriving from impurities such as sand and iron oxide contained within.
